تعد صحة الدورة الشهرية جانبًا حيويًا لرفاهية المرأة بشكل عام، ومع ذلك، كثيرًا ما يساء فهمها وتحيط بها المفاهيم الخاطئة.
الدورة الشهرية هي عملية متكررة بشكل طبيعي تعمل على تهيئة جسم المرأة للحمل؛ وتستمر عادةً 28 يومًا، فعلى الرغم من أن الدورات التي تتراوح من 21 إلى 35 يومًا تعتبر طبيعية، إلا أنه يمكن تقسيم الدورة إلى أربع مراحل رئيسية:

المرحلة الأصفرية: إذا لم يحدث الإخصاب. وينخفض مستوى الهرمون، مما يؤدي إلى انهيار بطانة الرحم، وبدء الدورة الشهرية التالية.
مشاكل الدورة الشهرية الشائعةغالبًا ما يواجه أطباء أمراض النساء مجموعة من مشكلات الدورة الشهرية في الممارسة إن فهم هذه المشكلات أمر بالغ الأهمية للتشخيص والعلاج المبكر بعض المشاكل الشائعة تشمل:
عسر الطمث: فترة مؤلمة تعرف باسم عسر الطمث، يمكن أن تؤثر بشكل كبير على نوعية حياة المرأة. قد لا يكون هذا الألم مرتبطًا في المقام الأول بحالة أخرى أو قد يكون سببًا ثانويًا بسبب مشاكل كامنة مثل التهاب بطانة الرحم أو الأورام الليفية.
انقطاع الطمث: يمكن أن يكون غياب الحيض أوليًا، حيث لا تأتي الدورة أبدًا أو غياب الدورة الشهرية الثانوية بعد بدايتها. يمكن أن تتراوح الأسباب من عدم التوازن الهرموني والإجهاد إلى التغيرات الكبيرة في الوزن والظروف الصحية الأساسية
غزارة الطمث: يمكن أن يؤدي نزيف الحيض الثقيل أو غزارة الطمث إلى فقر الدم وعدم الراحة الشديدة. إن تحديد السبب، سواء كان خلل هرموني أو تشوهات في الرحم، أمر ضروري للعلاج المناسب.
متلازمة ما قبل الحيض (PMS): تنطوي هذه الحالات على أعراض جسدية وعاطفية تحدث قبل الحيض. في حين أن الدورة الشهرية شائعة. PMD هو شكل أكثر خطورة يمكن أن يتداخل مع الحياة اليومية ويتطلب عناية طبية.

مشيراً إلى أن نتائج الفحوصات أوضحت وجود ضيق حاد في كلاً من الشريان الأورطي والتاجي وإرتفاع شديد في ضغط تجويف البطين الأيسر، وعقب إنتهاء الفريق الطبي من دراسة كافة معطيات النتائج، إتخذوا القرار بالتدخل الجراحي العاجل، للحيلولة دون إصابتها بمزيد من المضاعفات الخطرة.
وقال الدكتور مخدوم أن العملية استغرقت ساعة ونصف تحت التخدير العام، وتم فيها زراعة صمام جديد للشريان الأورطي وكذلك الشريان التاجي عن طريق القسطرة القلبية، نقلت بعدها المراجعة إلى جناح التنويم مع وضعها تحت المتابعة الحثيثة على مدار الساعة.
