نجح مستشفى الدكتور سليمان الحبيب بالخبر، في إجراء عملية دقيقة لإنهاء معاناة مراجع في العقد الخامس من العمر، من الصعوبة الشديدة في الرؤية بالعينين وخاصة العين اليمنى، الأمر الذي أعاقه عن أداء مهامه اليومية وأفقده القدرة على تمييز الأشياء من حوله. هذا ما أوضحه الدكتور بكر الأحمري استشاري طب وجراحة العيون رئيس الفريق الطبي المعالج، الحاصل على الزمالتين الألمانية والسويسرية.

موضحاً أنه تم إخضاع المراجع للفحوصات بالأشعة المقطعية للعين (OCT)، وأشعة تصوير القرنية وأجهزه قياس قوة العدسة، وذلك لتحديد نوع العدسات المناسب لزراعتها بالعين المصابة، وقد أبانت النتائج أنه يعاني من الماء الأبيض بالعينين، وأن نسبة كفاءة النظر بالعين اليمين لا تتجاوز 20% واليسار 40%، وحاجته الماسة إلى إجراء عملية لإزالة الماء الأبيض، وذلك للحيلولة دون إصابته بمزيد من المضاعفات.
وأكد الدكتور الأحمري أن الفريق الطبي عقب دراسته معطيات الفحوصات، أخضعه لعملية استغرقت "15" دقيقة تحت التخدير الموضعي، تم فيها سحب الماء الأبيض من العين اليمنى وزراعة عدسة دائمة من نوع خاص ومتطور تساعده على الرؤية بشكل طبيعي.
