شهد مستشفى الدكتور سليمان الحبيب بالخبر، استبدال مفصل ركبة صناعي تعرض للكسر والتآكل بآخر نوعي، في عملية معقدة وناجحة، أعادت الحركة لـ"ستيني"، عانى من المضاعفات والأعراض الحادة، التي غيرت نمط حياته. ذكر ذلك د. حمد الشهراني استشاري جراحة العظام والمفاصل الصناعية والطب الرياضي، رئيس الفريق الطبي المعالج.

الذي قال أن المراجع قدم إلى المستشفى وهو يشتكي من عدة أعراض حادة، أبرزها عدم القدرة على الحركة ومد الركبة أو ثنيها بشكل كامل والشعور بالآلام الحادة والتورم مع تشوه واضح في الساق والركبة.

واستطرد د. حمد قائلاً أن المراجع أجريت له عملية جراحية معقدة تم فيها استبدال مفصل الركبة المتأثر بمفصل اصطناعي مخصص لمثل هذه الحالات، مع استخدام دعامات خاصة، مشيراً إلى أن العملية تكللت ولله الحمد بالنجاح، إذ استعاد المراجع الثبات والقدرة على المشي في نفس يوم العملية. وغادر المستشفى بحالة جيدة، بعد "3" أيام أمضاها منوماً قيد الرعاية الطبية الحثيثة، وتخلص من كافة الأعراض التي كان يعاني منها.
