تمكن مستشفى الدكتور سليمان الحبيب بالخبر، عبر فريق طبي متخصص في جراحات النساء والولادة، من إنقاذ مريضة في العقد الخامس من العمر، عبر إجراء عملية جراحية ناجحة لإستئصال ورم سرطاني بطول 20 سم، من النوع النشط واسع الإنتشار والغير مستجيب للكيماوي، في البطن والحوض والرحم. ذكرت ذلك الدكتورة سارة الربيش استشارية النساء والولادة وجراحة الأورام النسائية والمناظير، رئيسة الفريق الطبي المعالج الحاصلة على الزمالة الكندية.

مشيرةً إلى أنه تم عمل إجراء طبي لأخذ عينة من بطانة الرحم، وفحصاً مخبرياً ، إذ تبين إصابتها بورم سرطاني نادر من النوع النشط وسريع الإنتشار، تبع ذلك إجراء أشعة مقطعية (C.T Scan) على كامل الصدر والبطن والحوض وعدداً من التحاليل المخبرية، وقد اتضح أن الورم بطول 20 ×15 سم ومنتشر في الرحم والمبايض والحوض، بالإضافة إلى تمدده للبطن.
وقالت رئيسة الفريق الطبي المعالج أنه بعد إطلاع الفريق الطبي على كامل نتائج الفحوصات، تم وضع خطة علاجية تقتضي، سرعة التدخل الجراحي للحيلولة دون انتشار الورم في مناطق جديدة بالجسم ، والحد من المضاعفات الشديدة التي تعاني منها المريضة، مفيدة بأن العملية قد تمت خلال ساعتين وأجري فيها فتح البطن واستئصال الورم والرحم بالكامل، وإزالة ما يزيد عن 22 عقدة لمفاوية من الحوض والبطن.
