في أول عملية للسمنة على مستوى القطاع الخاص في المملكة، تم في مستشفى المواساة بالخبر تحويل مسار مصغر للمعدة واستئصال المرارة الملتهبة بحصوات لمريضة تعاني من سمنة مفرطة بعد خضوعها لعملية تكميم سابقة وتطورها لالتهاب في المرارة.
وفور حضور المريضة إلى المستشفى، قام الدكتور سامي العصاري، استشاري جراحة السمنة والقولون والمستقيم، بإجراء عملية تحويل مسار مصغر للمعدة باستخدام توصيلة واحدة، واستئصال المرارة باستخدام الروبوت الآلي من خلال أربع فتحات صغيرة.

هذا الإجراء ساهم في تقليل الألم والنزف للمريضة، بالإضافة إلى الخياطة الدقيقة والتدبيس باستخدام الدباسة الذكية في منطقة التوصيلة.
