انضمام "شمال الرياض جيوبارك" و"سلمى جيوبارك" إلى شبكة الجيوبارك العالمية باليونسكو - عاجل

أعلنت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلوم والثقافة "اليونسكو" انضمام موقعي "شمال الرياض جيوبارك"، و"سلمى جيوبارك" إلى شبكة الجيوبارك العالمية باليونسكو؛ في خطوة تعزز من دور المملكة العربية السعودية في الحفاظ على التراث الجيولوجي، وتعزيز التنمية المستدامة. ويأتي هذا الإعلان استنادًا على معايير دقيقة تتبعها المنظمة الدولية وتشمل -على سبيل المثال- إدارة المناطق الجيولوجية ذات الأهمية العالمية بأسلوب شامل يجمع بين الحماية والتعليم والتنمية المستدامة، مع التركيز على إشراك المجتمعات المحلية.

وأعرب الرئيس التنفيذي للمركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر، الدكتور خالد بن عبدالله العبدالقادر عن فخره بهذا الإنجاز الدولي البارز، الذي يعد تتويجًا وتقديرًا عالميًا للجهود الوطنية المبذولة لحماية التراث الطبيعي والتاريخي في المملكة، ونتيجةً للدعم غير المحدود من القيادة الرشيدة -حفظها الله- نحو تمكين القطاع البيئي لتعزيز الاستدامة البيئية وحماية التراث الطبيعي. وأشار الدكتور العبدالقادر، إلى أن المركز يبذل جهودًا كبيرة في مجال الحفاظ على البيئة الطبيعية الفريدة للمملكة لاسيما في المواقع الجيولوجية، مما يسهم بشكل مباشر في تحقيق أهداف المملكة ضمن برنامج رؤية المملكة 2030 للتنمية المستدامة. من جانبه أكد مدير مبادرة جيوبارك السعودية المهندس حسام بن زهير التركي، أن انضمام "شمال الرياض جيوبارك" و"سلمى جيوبارك" يعزز من الفخر والانتماء لهويتنا الثقافية والطبيعية، ويعكس التزام المملكة الدائم بتعزيز دورها الريادي في الحفاظ على التراث الجيولوجي، ودعم التنمية المستدامة في كافة جوانبها، كما يُعد علامة فارقة في تطور المبادرات البيئية التي تواكب التوجهات العالمية نحو الاستدامة وحماية الموارد الطبيعية، وخطوة مهمة في طريق الاعتراف الدولي بأهمية المواقع الجيولوجية التي تحظى بها المملكة. وتلتزم المملكة من خلال هذه الخطوة بالإسهام في الجهود الدولية لحماية البيئة وتعزيز الوعي البيئي، حيث ستتيح هذه المواقع الفرصة للزوار المحليين والدوليين استكشاف التراث الجيولوجي الفريد للمملكة، وتعزيز الفهم العلمي والثقافي لأهمية الحفاظ على التنوع الجيولوجي. وتتيح الجيوبارك للمملكة فرصة تقديم نموذج رائد في إدارة الموارد الطبيعية بشكل مستدام، من خلال ربط السياحة الجيولوجية بالتنمية المحلية، وتوفير فرص العمل والتعليم للمجتمعات المحلية. ويعتمد هذا النموذج على التعاون بين القطاعات المختلفة، بما في ذلك الحكومة والقطاع الخاص والمنظمات غير الربحية، ما يعزز من تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة على المستوى الوطني والدولي.
