وأضاف سموه أن رعاية كبار السن والاهتمام بهم واجب ديني ووطني، منوهاً بضرورة استمرار البرامج والمبادرات التي توفر لهم الرعاية الشاملة، وحاثاً المجتمع على إيلائهم المزيد من العناية والرعاية، مثمناً سموه جهود وزارة الموارد البشرية والتنمية الاجتماعية في إطلاق مبادرات تعزز جودة حياة المسنين وترفع مستوى الخدمات المقدمة لهم.
وأوضح مدير عام فرع الوزارة بالمنطقة الشرقية، أن الوزارة تعمل وفق استراتيجية وطنية شاملة لكبار السن على مستوى المملكة، وقد حظيت المنطقة الشرقية بعدد من المشاريع والمبادرات المنبثقة عنها، من أبرزها: ترخيص أول مركز إقامة دائمة لكبار السن ، وإسناد خدمات الرعاية الإيوائية فيه إلى القطاع غير الربحي، مؤكداً السماري حرص الوزارة على تقديم كافة الخدمات التي تسهم في تحسين حياة كبار السن، مشيداً بالاهتمام الخاص الذي توليه القيادة الرشيدة –أيدها الله– لهذه الفئة الغالية، تجسيداً لقيم ديننا الحنيف الذي حثّ على توقير كبار السن والإحسان إليهم.
