أجرى مستشفى الدكتور سليمان الحبيب بالخبر، عدة عمليات ناجحة لتطويل العظام عبر تقنية المسمار النخاعي الممغنط، والذي يعتبر من أكثر تقنيات تطويل العظام فعالية، وتتميز بأنها تتم دون آلام أومثبتات خارجية تقيد حركة المريض.
وقال د.عبدالرحمن الرفاعي استشاري جراحة العظام والمتخصص في عظام الأطفال والتشوهات والحوادث وجراحات مفصل الورك المتقدمة، رئيس الفريق الطبي المعالج لهذه الحالات، إن عمليات تطويل العظام في السابق كانت تعتمد على وضع مثبتات خارجية على الساقين أو الفخذين، وتستغرق شهورأً، وتسبب الكثير من العناء والآلام للمريض طوال فترة العلاج، مضيفاً أن تقنية المسمار النخاعي سهلت الأمر كثيراً، إذ تتميز بأن التطويل يتم داخلياً وبصورة غير مرئية، حيث يزرع مسمار نخاعي، دون الحاجة لمثبتات، وبدون آلام تذكر بعد إجراء العملية.

واستطرد قائلاً أن المريضة أجريت لها عملية عبر تقنية المسمار النخاعي وتم تطويل عظمة الساق لتصبح مكافئة لطول نظيرتها خلال ستين يوما فقط، كما تم تعديل الالتواء، مؤكداً أن المريضة تخلصت لاحقاً من كافة الأعراض التي جاءت بها إلى المستشفى واستعادت قدرتها على المشي الطبيعي والعودة لممارسة كافة أنشطتها اليومية.
ولفت إلى أن التطويل يبدأ بعد إجراء الجراحة بخمسة أيام، حيث يتم تطويل العظام بمعدل ملم واحد في اليوم، وبدون أي مجهود من المريض، سوى تشغيل جهاز الريموت كنترول لمدة لاتزيد عن دقيقتين، ومن أبرز مزايا هذه التقنية أنها تحقق نسب نجاح عالية، بالإضافة إلى قصر فترة العلاج بالمقارنة مع عمليات التطويل الخارجية التقليدية، وعدم وجود اثار خارجيه للعملية، وكما أن المريض يمارس حياته اليومية بصورة طبيعية بدون ألم ولا تتطلب وجود أجهزة خارجية يمكن أن تحد من حركته.
