حمل المئات من الجنود رئيس الحرس الجمهوري في الغابون واعتبروه القائد الجديد للبلاد في أعقاب الانقلاب العسكري ضد حكم الرئيس علي بونغو.
وردد الجنود هتافات تلقب الجنرال بريس أوليغي نغويما بالرئيس الجديد بعدما أكد قادة الانقلاب قيادته للجنة الانتقالية لاستعادة المؤسسات في البلاد.
وأعلن عسكريون اليوم الأربعاء في ليبرفيل الإطاحة بالرئيس علي بونغو فور صدور نتائج الانتخابات الرئاسية التي جرت السبت وأظهرت فوزه بولاية ثالثة.
وخرج الآلاف من المواطنين إلى شوارع ليبرفيل للتعبير عن فرحتهم بإقصاء بونغو.

وقال الجنرال بريس أوليغي نغيما الذي شارك في الانقلاب لصحيفة "لوموند" الفرنسية الأربعاء، إن الرئيس بونغو "أحيل على التقاعد".
وصرّح الجنرال نغيما أن بونغو الذي وضع قيد الإقامة الجبرية "أحيل على التقاعد ولديه كل حقوقه. هو مواطن غابوني عادي مثل أي شخص آخر". وأضاف "لم يكن لديه الحق في تولي فترة ولاية ثالثة، وانتُهك الدستور (...) لذلك قرر الجيش تولي مسؤولياته".
وأوضح للصحيفة "لم أعلن نفسي بعد (قائدا للمرحلة الانتقالية)، ولا أفكر في أي شيء في الوقت الحالي". وأضاف "إنها مسألة سنناقشها مع جميع الجنرالات".
