Three Police Officers Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Southern Gaza

تاريخ النشر: 26th, June 2025 GMT

The Gaza Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday evening, June 26, 2025, that three police officers and two other civilians were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip.

In a press statement received by Sawa News Agency, the ministry said: "A police unit was targeted by Israeli warplanes while chasing a group of thieves and collaborators with the occupation this evening in the Asdaa area, west of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.

The attack resulted in the deaths of three police officers and two other civilians."

The statement added: "The police and security apparatus in the Gaza Strip continues to carry out its duty to serve our people, despite the systematic targeting it faces from the Israeli occupation through daily bombings and killings. These attacks will not weaken our determination, nor will they succeed in breaking our will."

Gaza Civilians Receive Secured Food Aid Amid International Efforts

International and local organizations began on Thursday morning, June 26, 2025, distributing 50-kilogram bags of flour and food parcels to residents in Gaza City and the northern part of the Strip. This comes after the safe arrival of the aid shipments to warehouses yesterday, without being looted or stolen, under the direct protection of Palestinian clans and families.

Photos and video footage showed residents lining up at ANERA warehouses in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, west of Gaza City, to receive flour bags and food parcels.

On Wednesday, Palestinian clans helped secure the arrival of humanitarian aid trucks to World Food Programme (WFP) warehouses in Gaza City, amid fears of looting by gangs that, according to local sources, operate “under the protection of the Israeli army.”

Last night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the military to devise a plan within 48 hours to stop what they claimed was Hamas's control over the aid.

In a joint statement, Netanyahu and Katz claimed the directive came “following information indicating that Hamas is regaining control over aid entering the northern Gaza Strip and stealing it from civilians.”

In response, the High Committee for Tribal Affairs in Gaza issued a statement saying: “The Gaza clans strongly reject the malicious allegations made by the occupation, which aim to distort the facts and sow chaos in the Strip.”
The committee emphasized that “all aid is fully secured under its direct supervision and is being distributed exclusively through international organizations.”

The committee called on the UN Security Council to “urgently dispatch a delegation to inspect the aid distribution process on the ground and verify its transparency and proper conduct.”
It also stressed that “the aid that has entered Gaza so far is merely a drop in the ocean compared to the population’s immense needs.”
