But today, on the same occasion, we are in the midst of a fierce war during which we have achieved great and historic accomplishments ,because we were not divided, but stood together and fought together.

He continued “Later this week, I will convene a cabinet meeting to guide the army on how to fully achieve these three objectives, without exception. The newspaper added that “Netanyahu sabotaged the agreement with Hamas in March 2025, on the eve of moving to the second phase. The blockade on the Gaza Strip was tightened, international organizations were expelled, and ‘food distribution centers’ were established under the management of a suspicious American company.”

It continued: “What was the result? A starvation campaign that caused historic damage to Israel. There was no organized starvation, there was hunger, chaos, and civilians killed whose only crime was searching for food. Emaciated children, mothers screaming, all of it was documented, broadcast, and spread across networks.”

Only in this way will we bring back the hostages and win the war.”

Ben Gvir entered Al-Aqsa leading hundreds of settlers on the occasion of Tisha B’Av (the 9th of Av on the Hebrew calendar), a day on which Jews commemorate the destruction of the so-called Temple. He led a public prayer, while Israeli police did not intervene.

On Tuesday evening, Netanyahu held a closed meeting that lasted three hours, attended by a limited number of ministers and senior security officials. Haaretz wrote:“In light of the prolonged stagnation of the forces inside Gaza, a simple practical metric emerges to test the seriousness of Netanyahu’s intentions taking control of what remains of the Strip’s territory and maneuvering within areas densely populated by around two million Palestinians. This would require significant reinforcements in the army’s language, a substantial increase in troop numbers.”

It added that “regular units are unlikely to be sufficient, especially after many of them were recently pulled out of the Strip, in accordance with Chief of Staff Zamir’s decision to give the soldiers a period of rest.”

For its part, the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth stated:“We must say it clearly: for the first time since October 7, harming the hostages has become a realistic option.”

It stressed that “everyone knows that occupying Gaza means the death of the hostages a topic that, until two years ago, was taboo, but has now become open for discussion.”

It added: “In addition, there are those who barely survived amid hell, hunger, and torture. These young people, who remained day after day in that hell with hope and determination not to be forgotten, have now, for some, become an ‘acceptable sacrifice.’”

It also stated: “Even if a decision is made to occupy the Strip, it may fail the practical test due to reality. The government might adopt a modest model that maintains the current stagnation, or announce a major decision and when its implementation fails, it will blame Trump, the international community, the ‘weak Chief of Staff they themselves appointed,’ or the deep state.”

Netanyahu: We intend to fully control the Gaza Strip without governing it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Thursday evening that his government intends to take full control of the Gaza Strip, while stressing that Israel does not seek to govern the Strip permanently, but rather to “hand it over to a civilian entity that poses no threat.”

In an interview with the American network Fox News, Netanyahu said: “We do not intend to govern Gaza; we intend to free ourselves and the residents of Gaza from Hamas rule,” referring to Israel’s desire to change the current reality in the Strip without remaining there politically or administratively.

He added: “We want to establish a security perimeter in Gaza, remain there as a governing authority, and then hand it over to Arab forces to govern it properly.”

Hamas: Netanyahu’s statements are a coup against the negotiation process.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) affirmed that what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is planning is a continuation of the policy of genocide and displacement through committing more crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

This came in response to Netanyahu’s statements to Fox News, in which he confirmed his intention to occupy the Gaza Strip without retaining it, and to hand it over to Arab forces that do not threaten the occupying entity.

Hamas stressed that Netanyahu’s statements represent a clear coup against the course of negotiations and clearly reveal the real motives behind his withdrawal from the last round, despite being close to reaching a final agreement.

It pointed out that Netanyahu’s plans to expand the aggression leave no doubt that he seeks to get rid of his captives and sacrifice them in service of his personal interests and extremist ideological agendas.

What are the hidden goals behind Netanyahu’s decision to occupy Gaza?

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, on Friday, August 8, 2025, discussed the hidden goals behind Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to occupy the Gaza Strip.

The newspaper said it is hard to believe that a prime minister like Benjamin Netanyahu could make a decision to go to war and occupy new areas against the recommendations of the army. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir credited with the idea of occupying Gaza, approving its most precise details, and presenting it ready to Netanyahu told him that after reviewing the plan, studying the details, and assessing the risks, he found that the plan should be replaced with something else. He warned that such an occupation could endanger the lives of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas and lead to the deaths of many Israeli soldiers.

However, Netanyahu insisted on inserting the word “occupation” into the plan (at the last moment replacing it with the word “control”).

And of course, there are many inaccuracies, deceptions, and certain tricks in the decision. The Israeli cabinet granted the army two full months to prepare for the occupation, during which it gave the opportunity to try the “siege, fighting, and displacement” plan without occupation. This led far-right minister Bezalel Smotrich to say that nothing had changed in the prime minister’s policy, and that he was still maneuvering within the scope of traditional politics, which does not resolve the battle against Hamas and leaves the door open for negotiations.

Some do not rule out that this timetable is deceptive, as Israel still believes in military deception as a cornerstone of its policy, as we have seen in its management of the war since its beginning especially with Hezbollah, Iran, and Syria. It is also not ruled out that Netanyahu is continuing his method of dragging Hamas into traps.

But at its core, the decision serves Netanyahu’s political, partisan, and personal goals. He needs the flames of war to keep his government in place, as he knows that ending the war will open up the main battle he fears the internal battle to bring down his government.

Regarding victims killed while seeking aid, it noted that 16 martyrs and 250 injuries were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of “bread-seeker” martyrs admitted to hospitals to 1,772, with more than 12,249 injuries.

Palestine requests an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council.

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, announced that the Palestinian mission has requested an immediate extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, based on directives from the Palestinian presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting aims to discuss mechanisms for Arab and international action to confront Israeli crimes, prevent their continuation, and hold perpetrators accountable before international courts.

Al-Aklouk noted that the request comes amid the ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people for more than 671 consecutive days, and Israel’s decision to re-occupy and fully control Gaza, resulting in forced displacement, massacres, destruction of infrastructure, settler terrorism in the occupied West Bank, and escalations at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He emphasized the necessity for the meeting to issue an Arab decision for effective action at both the Arab and international levels to confront these Israeli crimes and prosecute those responsible legally.

Hamas Responds to Israel’s Plan to Occupy Gaza City and Evacuate Its Residents.

On Friday, August 8, 2025, Hamas responded to the plan approved by the Israeli security cabinet (the “kabinett”) to occupy Gaza City and evacuate its residents.

In a statement, Hamas condemned the Israeli cabinet’s approval of plans to occupy Gaza City and forcibly displace nearly one million residents, calling it a new war crime that the occupation army intends to commit against the city and its people.

Hamas stated: “We affirm that the Israeli cabinet’s approval of plans to occupy Gaza City and evacuate all its residents constitutes a fully fledged war crime. The fascist occupation government is planning to implement this as a continuation of its policy of extermination, forced displacement, and brutal practices amounting to ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian people.”

They added that Israel’s manipulation of language replacing the term “occupation” with “control”is a blatant attempt to evade legal responsibility for the brutal crime against civilians, while implicitly admitting that the plan violates the Geneva Conventions and poses a direct threat to the lives of nearly one million Palestinians in the city.

Hamas further pointed out that the decision to occupy Gaza confirms that the criminal Netanyahu and his Nazi government do not care about the fate of their own captives, and that they understand expanding the aggression means sacrificing them, exposing a reckless mentality that disregards prisoners’ lives for failed political illusions.

This decision also clearly explains Israel’s sudden withdrawal from the last round of negotiations, which was close to reaching a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.

Hamas emphasized that during ongoing communication with the Egyptian and Qatari mediators, the movement has shown full flexibility and positivity to support ceasefire efforts and will spare no effort to take all necessary steps towards a comprehensive deal for the immediate release of all Israeli captives, aiming to end the war and ensure Israeli forces withdraw.

Presidency Responds to Israel’s Decision to Occupy the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Presidency responded today, Friday, August 8, 2025, to the decision of the Israeli security cabinet (“the kabinett”) to occupy the Gaza Strip.

In an official statement, the presidency expressed its strong rejection and condemnation of the dangerous decisions approved by the Israeli cabinet to fully re-occupy the Gaza Strip and forcibly displace nearly one million Palestinians from Gaza City and northern Gaza to the south.

It described the decision as a fully constituted crime representing a continuation of the policy of genocide, systematic killing, starvation, and siege, as well as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and international legitimacy resolutions.

It warned that these Israeli plans, based on killing, starvation, and forced displacement, will lead to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. These plans add to the actions already carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, including settlement expansion, annexation of Palestinian lands, settler terrorism, attacks on Christian and Islamic holy sites and places of worship, withholding Palestinian funds, and undermining the establishment of Palestinian state institutions. These are crimes against humanity that threaten regional and international security and peace.

The statement affirmed that the Palestinian people will not accept policies of coercion or imposed realities by force, and they remain steadfast in their inalienable national rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination and establishing their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In light of this serious escalation, the State of Palestine has decided to urgently communicate with relevant international bodies and to immediately approach the UN Security Council to demand urgent and binding action to stop these crimes. It also called for emergency meetings of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League Council to coordinate a unified Arab, Islamic, and international stance that ensures the protection of the Palestinian people and an end to the aggression.

Moreover, it specifically appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene to halt the implementation of these decisions and instead fulfill his promise to end the war and pursue lasting peace.

Newspaper: Hamas affirms that the plan to occupy Gaza is a pressure tactic.

A knowledgeable source from Hamas stated that the proposed “Gaza occupation plan” on the Israeli side is merely a negotiation pressure card aimed at extracting concessions at the negotiation table, which is threatened with collapse due to these measures.

The source told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the expansion of the military operation in the Gaza Strip reflects Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s determination to use this plan as a negotiation pressure card, hoping to extract concessions while being fully aware that any concession will be met with additional demands, which undermines the negotiation process and threatens its very return.

The source believes that Netanyahu prefers military escalation over any temporary truce that does not bring him solid political gains.

He added, “Netanyahu and his right-wing government, led by Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, see the continuation of the war as a domestic political lever, especially amid the deep trust crisis and divisions within Israeli society.” The source referred to the two extremist ministers: Itamar Ben-Gvir, Minister of National Security, and Bezalel Smotrich, Minister of Finance.

The knowledgeable source emphasized that any additional ground gains by Israel will be met with greater depletion, deeper security vulnerabilities, and possibly the loss of more soldiers or hostages.

Germany suspends arms supplies to Israel that could be used in Gaza.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on Friday that Berlin is halting the supply of weapons to Israel that could be used in the Gaza Strip.

This came in a statement issued by Chancellor Merz following the Israeli government’s approval of a plan to expand the occupied areas in Gaza, despite the worsening starvation in the Strip.

The unexpected move by Berlin coincided with renewed protests in Germany, as it is the largest European supporter of Tel Aviv in the genocide war on Gaza.

According to the statement, Merz said, “Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas,” adding that the release of prisoners and serious negotiations for a ceasefire are top priorities for the German government.

Gaza: Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital warns of complete shutdown due to fuel shortage.

On Friday, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza warned it may cease all operations due to a severe shortage of diesel fuel needed to power its generators, caused by the Israeli blockade.

It emphasized that without immediate and urgent fuel supplies, the hospital will shut down completely, endangering the lives of hundreds of patients and injured individuals.

This comes amid a critical shortage of medicines and medical supplies in Gaza hospitals, alongside an almost total collapse of their diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

Prisoners’ Affairs Commission: Gilboa Prison Administration Torturing Prisoners with Electric Shocks.

The Prisoners’ Affairs and Ex Prisoners Commission said on Friday that the Gilboa Prison administration has intensified its torture and retaliation against prisoners, recently using painful electric shocks during raids on inmates’ sections and cells.

The Commission’s lawyer, after visiting the prison, described the mechanism of this torture: the section is stormed by special suppression units under the pretext of inspection, all prisoners are handcuffed and shackled, and taken to the yard. Unit members then beat and humiliate them, shock them with electricity, and drag them across the shower area in the yard. Their clothes and bodies are soaked with water before shocking them again a method intended to double the pain and suffering to the point that most prisoners collapse on the ground as a result.

The lawyer added: “Electric shocks are carried out using special stun guns, which are also used as clubs to strike prisoners’ heads. Since they are made of solid metal, they cause severe wounds, with many prisoners bleeding while guards mock, ridicule, and laugh. Due to the severity of the torture, many prisoners have lost consciousness.”

Poll: Majority in Israel Supports Comprehensive Prisoner Exchange Deal and End to War.

Fifty-seven percent of the Israeli public believes that Israel should pursue a comprehensive agreement for a prisoner exchange in return for ending the war and withdrawing the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip, while 30% think Israel should continue the war and occupy Gaza  even if it means the death of all Israeli captives in the enclave  according to a poll published today, Friday, by Maariv newspaper.

He continued, “People in Gaza have limited access to basic services, face repeated displacement, and are currently under a blockade on food supplies.”

Trump “Confronts” Netanyahu over Denial of Famine in Gaza.

NBC has revealed details of a heated phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which the discussion centered on Netanyahu’s policy of starvation in the besieged Gaza Strip. This came after Trump publicly stated that there is a real famine in Gaza, sparking strong reactions.

Netanyahu had privately requested the call with Trump to insist that there is no famine in Gaza, claiming that such reports were fabricated by Hamas. However, Trump sharply interrupted him, making it clear he did not want to hear such claims, and noted that his aides had shown him evidence proving that children in Gaza are starving.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump is focused on securing the release of all Israeli captives in Gaza and providing food to the residents of the Strip, without commenting on the details of private conversations. This reflects the growing tensions between the U.S. administration and the Israeli leadership over the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Earlier, Trump had urged Israel to provide food to Gaza’s residents, stressing that the United States does not want people there to starve. These statements come at a time when the Strip’s residents are enduring a severe humanitarian crisis.

— khazn (@KhaznL) August 6, 2025

— Moo Hamad (@MooHamadPAL) August 6, 2025
