KAN Channel reveals details of new Qatari proposal for prisoner exchange deal

The Israeli "KAN" Channel revealed on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the details of a new proposal submitted by Qatar to Israel regarding a prisoner exchange deal.

According to two diplomatic sources, the proposal includes a 60-day ceasefire, during which 8 live Israeli captives would be released on the first day, and 2 more on the 50th day of the truce. In addition, the bodies of 18 deceased captives would be returned in three batches.

The channel indicated that under the proposal, the Israeli army would withdraw from the Morag corridor, and humanitarian aid entry into the Gaza Strip would be significantly increased.

Sources familiar with the negotiations told KAN that there is a high possibility of reaching an agreement, though disputes remain over the terms for ending the war and the extent of Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza.

Meanwhile, Channel 12 quoted an official saying that "indirect talks could begin in the coming days, potentially leading to a breakthrough on the prisoner issue."

The channel added that "there are indications from mediators that the pressure they are exerting on Hamas may lead to flexibility."

It noted that if negotiations resume, a deal could be reached within a week.

The report confirmed that "the proposed deal includes the release of 8 live captives in the first stage, followed by 2 others on the 50th day."

It also explained that efforts are underway to draft assurances for Hamas, guaranteeing that negotiations over ending the war would be conducted seriously, and in a way that eases their concerns about Israel resuming hostilities after the ceasefire ends.

Trump: We hope to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza within the next week

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, that he will discuss the situations in Gaza and Iran when he meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next Monday, according to Reuters.

Trump made the remarks to reporters as he departed the White House for a visit to an immigration detention center in the Everglades, Florida.

He stated: “We’re hoping for a ceasefire in Gaza, and we’re looking forward to that happening within the next week.”

Earlier today, Netanyahu had announced that he expects to head to the United States next week for meetings with Trump, following what he described as a "great victory" in the 12-day war with Iran last month.

Gaza Health Ministry Announces Latest Death Toll

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, that the death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 56,647 martyrs and 134,105 injuries since October 7, 2023.

In its daily statistical report on casualties from the ongoing Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, the ministry stated that 116 people were killed (including 4 bodies retrieved from under the rubble) and 463 others injured in the past 24 hours.

The ministry also noted that the total number of casualties recorded since March 18, 2025, stands at 6,315 deaths and 22,064 injuries.

It further indicated that the total number of civilians killed while trying to obtain food has reached 600 martyrs, with over 4,278 injured, since the beginning of aid distribution center operations.

WFP: Chance to Avert Famine in Gaza Is Rapidly Disappearing

The World Food Programme (WFP) warned on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, that the opportunity to avert famine in the Gaza Strip — caused by Israel’s actions — is "rapidly disappearing."

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the UN agency said its teams on the ground in Gaza are "adapting in real time" to Israeli-imposed restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

The WFP explained that this adaptation involves "establishing new distribution points, navigating severe restrictions, and using safe routes to reach those in need — wherever they are" in the Strip.

It emphasized that the window to prevent famine is closing fast due to the ongoing Israeli blockade on humanitarian access to the besieged territory.

Lazzarini: 'Gaza Humanitarian Mission' Offers Nothing but Starvation and Bullets

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, that dozens of humanitarian organizations have called for the termination of the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Mission” run by the United States and Israel, saying it delivers "nothing but starvation and bullets" to civilians in the Gaza Strip.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lazzarini said that over 130 non-governmental humanitarian organizations have urged the restoration of a unified coordination and distribution mechanism for aid in Gaza, led by the United Nations, including UNRWA, and grounded in international humanitarian law.

He emphasized that many humanitarian groups demanded an end to the operations of the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Mission” because it “provides only hunger and gunfire” to the Palestinian population.

Lazzarini further noted that since the mission began on May 27, at least 500 starving people have been killed, and around 4,000 injured while desperately trying to access food.

UNRWA: 82% of Gaza Under Israeli Evacuation Orders

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, that 82% of Gaza's areas are currently under Israeli evacuation orders, leaving Palestinians with nowhere safe to go as shelters and facilities continue to be destroyed.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the agency reported that the Israeli military bombed a school sheltering displaced families in Gaza City on Monday morning.

The attack caused severe damage to the shelter, though no injuries were reported.

Yesterday, Israeli forces also targeted four schools used as displacement shelters after issuing evacuation warnings. Three were located in the Zeitoun neighborhood, and the fourth in Tuffah, in eastern Gaza City.

UNRWA stressed that "humanitarian facilities are not a target," and reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Authorities Force Jerusalem Family to Self-Demolish Home

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Israeli occupation authorities forced a Palestinian family in Jerusalem to demolish their own home in the town of Silwan, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, the Jerusalem Municipality compelled Mahmoud Berqan to carry out the self-demolition of his family’s home in the Wadi Yasoul neighborhood of Silwan.

The 100-square-meter house, which had been standing for five years, was home to seven family members.

Katz Announces Formation of Committee to Address Settler Attacks on Israeli Soldiers

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, that he has decided to establish a joint task force comprising the police, army, and Shin Bet to deal with violent settler groups. However, it was later revealed that such a committee had already been formed long ago.

The decision comes after increasing incidents of settler violence, particularly against Israeli soldiers themselves. Just months ago, Katz had canceled administrative detention orders against extremist settlers and now says he will not reverse that decision.

Last Wednesday, extremist settlers — including members of the "Hilltop Youth" group — attacked the Palestinian town of Kafr Malik near Ramallah, resulting in the killing of three Palestinians. The attack was carried out with the support of Israeli soldiers, who arrived at the scene and participated in the assault. This incident is part of a long-standing pattern of settler violence against Palestinians, often backed by the Israeli army.

However, Katz’s move to form a new body is not primarily aimed at protecting Palestinians, but rather a response to public outrage in Israel after settlers attacked Israeli troops and set fire to a security facility last weekend. Despite repeated incidents, no settlers were arrested.

While Katz and other Israeli politicians — including far-right ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir — initially defended the settlers, they later paid lip service to the need for law enforcement against those who assault Israeli forces.

UNRWA: Displaced Palestinians Killed While Searching for Food in Gaza

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) warned on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, of the continued killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip as they try to access food, amid a deepening humanitarian catastrophe faced by the besieged population for months.

In a statement, UNRWA said that civilians—particularly the displaced—are being killed while seeking food at aid distribution points, which have now turned into danger zones instead of providing the basic security and sustenance they desperately need.

The agency sharply criticized the new Israeli-American mechanism for aid delivery into Gaza, saying it has become a “death trap,” where vulnerable people are directly targeted while standing in long lines for food.

UNRWA emphasized that the United Nations and its humanitarian agencies, especially UNRWA, remain the only credible and capable actors to deliver aid safely and efficiently to the population in need. The agency called for a return to reliable humanitarian mechanisms that prioritize the protection and safety of civilians.

The agency renewed its call to stop the repeated targeting of civilians in Gaza and to allow unhindered humanitarian access without political conditions. It warned that the continuation of these policies would only deepen the humanitarian disaster affecting more than two million people living under siege in the Gaza Strip.

Egyptian and Qatari Foreign Ministers Discuss Efforts to Resume Gaza Ceasefire

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss joint efforts—alongside the United States—to resume the ceasefire in Gaza and halt the bloodshed of the Palestinian people.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, and discussed ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire, ensure the release of hostages and detainees (including Israelis), and guarantee the urgent and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.

The statement added that Minister Abdelatty also reviewed arrangements for Egypt’s hosting of an early recovery and reconstruction conference for Gaza, which will take place immediately after a ceasefire agreement is reached, in cooperation with the Palestinian government and the United Nations.

The two ministers further discussed developments in the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, stressing the importance of consolidating the truce, de-escalating tensions, and advancing diplomatic solutions.

Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's support for the resumption of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program and for all efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the Middle East.

Worrying Rise in Meningitis Cases Amid Health Deterioration in Gaza

Dr. Ragheb Warsha Agha, Head of the Pediatric Department at Al-Nasser and Al-Rantisi Children's Hospitals in Gaza, has warned of a significant rise in meningitis cases, noting that hundreds of infections have been recorded in recent weeks amidst the unprecedented deterioration of the healthcare system due to the ongoing Israeli aggression and blockade.

In a statement published by the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Agha highlighted the daily increase in cases, particularly among children, driven by a severe shortage of clean water and personal hygiene supplies, which has elevated the risk of disease outbreaks in overcrowded shelters that lack basic public health standards.

He stated: "The healthcare situation in Gaza is collapsing due to the blockade and the systematic destruction of healthcare infrastructure, compounded by the forced displacement of over two-thirds of the population, forcing over 1.5 million people into cramped areas lacking even the most basic living conditions or healthcare."

Dr. Agha warned that the overcrowding in these areas is significantly increasing the risk of the spread of infectious diseases, especially meningitis, while healthcare facilities continue to suffer from severe shortages of medicines, antibiotics, and preventive supplies.

He called on international and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to provide clean drinking water, support hospitals and health centers with essential medicines, and enhance primary healthcare services, which have become the first line of defense against the spread of epidemics.

Dr. Agha urged the international community to bear its ethical and humanitarian responsibility in addressing what he called the "compound health catastrophe" affecting civilians in Gaza. He stressed that international silence on this issue is exacerbating the suffering of the population and threatening the future of entire generations.

Netanyahu to Visit Washington Soon, Trump Confirms Ceasefire Next Week

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit the White House on Monday, July 7, for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, as discussions grow about the possibility of a near ceasefire in Gaza.

According to Axios, an Israeli official revealed that this will be the third meeting between Trump and Netanyahu since the Republican president returned to office in January.

The official explained that Trump aims to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of Israeli prisoners.

White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt confirmed that Netanyahu expressed his desire to meet with Trump. She also noted that Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, had already traveled to Washington earlier this week for meetings with senior U.S. officials.

Trump had stated that a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is "close" and may come into effect next week, emphasizing that ending the Gaza conflict is a priority for his administration.

In addition to Gaza, the discussions between Netanyahu and Trump are expected to cover other significant issues, especially the advancement of normalization agreements. U.S. Special Envoy Steve Vitkoff stated that Washington is preparing to soon announce an "important agreement" for the inclusion of new countries in the Abraham Accords.

Gaza: Kidney Dialysis Service Suspended at Shifa Hospital

The Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City announced today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the suspension of its kidney dialysis service due to fuel shortages, putting the lives of 350 patients who rely on this service at risk.

According to a statement from the Gaza Ministry of Health, intensive care patients are now facing imminent death due to the lack of fuel required to run vital medical equipment. The hospital noted that these services will only continue for a few more hours.

The statement further explained that generators at the hospital will shut down completely by 12 PM, which means that hundreds, possibly thousands of patients, will face a real and imminent danger to their lives.

The hospital administration confirmed that international organizations have informed them that Israel is preventing fuel entry into Gaza, and no options remain to address this crisis except for the complete cessation of medical services.

Palestinian Ministry of Finance Announces Disbursement of Second Installment of Salaries for April 2025

The Palestinian Ministry of Finance announced that the second installment of public sector employees' salaries for April 2025 will be disbursed today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025. This is in continuation of the first installment that was paid before Eid al-Adha, which had been calculated based on 70% of the salary, with a minimum of 3500 shekels.

The Ministry confirmed that securing the disbursement of the second installment came amidst complex financial conditions resulting from the ongoing Israeli withholding of clearance revenues, as well as illegal deductions that have been ongoing since 2019, which have intensified since the escalation of the Gaza conflict.

The Ministry also pointed out that, to date, the clearance funds for April have not been transferred, which has exacerbated the financial crisis, making it impossible to disburse the salary installment sooner.

The Ministry assured that the remaining outstanding dues for employees will be paid when financial resources allow.

Two Palestinians Martyred by Israeli Gunfire in Ramallah and Hebron

Two young men were martyred today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, by Israeli occupation forces in Ramallah and Hebron.

Local sources reported that Amjad Nassar Awad Houshieh (16 years old), from Yatta south of Hebron and residing in Kafr Aqab north of Jerusalem, was martyred after being shot by Israeli forces at Manara Square in the heart of Ramallah.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided several homes in Al-Rakab Street in central Ramallah and Ain Misbah neighborhood, where they vandalized property and conducted field interrogations with several young men.

Additionally, a young man was martyred by Israeli gunfire near the apartheid wall on Palestinian lands in the town of Al-Dhahiriya, south of Hebron.

Security and local sources reported that Israeli forces stationed at the so-called Mitar checkpoint opened fire on Samer Bassam Al-Zgharnah, from Al-Ramadin south of Hebron, wounding him critically, leading to his martyrdom.

The Israeli authorities handed over the martyr's body to Palestinian medical teams, and it was transferred to Dura Government Hospital.

Israeli Forces Arrest 11 Palestinians from Hebron and Close Several Town Entrances

Israeli occupation forces arrested 11 Palestinians from Hebron province, in the southern West Bank, today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, after storming their homes, searching them, and ransacking their contents.

Local sources reported that Israeli forces raided Halahoul town north of Hebron and arrested Ahmad Khalid Ramadan. In Yatta town, they arrested Ali Rajeh Al-Shawahin.

In the Al-Fawwar camp south of Hebron, Israeli forces arrested the following individuals: Mohammad Khalid Al-Atamah, Tamer Abu Taimah, Hamoudah Dadrah, Hasan Saadi Rassras, Youssef Mahmoud Farihanah, Ibrahim Nasser Al-Dosouqi, and brothers Aser and Ayham Akram Al-Shawabkeh.

The sources also indicated that Israeli forces severely beat several detainees and mistreated them during the raids and arrests.

Al-Nono: We will not accept disarmament or expulsion of leaders; Bahbah lacks the qualifications of a mediator

Tahar al-Nono, an advisor to the political bureau of Hamas, confirmed that "communications with mediators have not stopped, and we have no objections to any meeting. However, there are no arrangements for a new meeting at the moment, and we do not see any seriousness from the occupation to reach an agreement that ends the aggression and war."

In an interview with the Egyptian newspaper "Al-Shorouk", al-Nono added, "There is no longer any role or mediation being conducted by Mr. Bashar Bahbah, the American-Palestinian mediator. His efforts were during a specific stage, and they have ended. He does not possess the qualities required for a mediator, nor is he suitable for this role."

He also clarified that the issues of disarming the resistance and expelling leaders from the Gaza Strip are non-negotiable and cannot be discussed.

Arrest of Couple from Raanana on Suspicion of Spying for Iran

Israeli police and Shin Bet arrested a couple in their thirties during a raid on their apartment in Raanana, on suspicion of spying for Iran, according to a joint statement from the police and Shin Bet on Tuesday.

Police officers raided the couple's apartment, and they are scheduled to appear in court today for an extension of their detention.

According to the police, several mobile phones, computers, and other technological devices were found in their possession, along with communications suspected to be between the couple and their Iranian handler.

The arrest followed a secret investigation by the police and Shin Bet, which began about a week ago. The couple is suspected of carrying out espionage activities within Israel.

Olympic Committee: Athletes Abu Amira and Maslah Martyred in Gaza Beach Café Massacre

The Palestinian Olympic Committee stated that the Israeli massacre on Monday, which targeted a café on Gaza's beach, resulted in the martyrdom of football player Mustafa Abu Amira and boxing champion Malak Maslah.

The committee explained in a statement on Tuesday that Abu Amira played for Sadaqa, Shati, and Zaytoun clubs, while Maslah, an up-and-coming boxing champion, dreamed of raising the name of Palestine in international boxing rings.

The committee continued, stating: "They were martyred together in the massacre at 'Café Al-Baqa' on Gaza's beach when treacherous missiles struck, killing dreams, sports, and joy in an instant. They were there searching for a breath of relief amid a war that has left no outlet for the youth. They, along with dozens of civilians, were martyred in a scene that is heart-wrenching."

The statement further noted that Mustafa was known for his noble character and fighting spirit on the field, being a model for the youth loyal to their homeland and clubs. As for Malak, she was a young woman with big dreams, battling skillfully in the ring, carrying in her heart the hope of being the first to raise Palestine's flag in international women's boxing championships.

The committee added that with their deaths, the list of martyrs from the sports, youth, and scouting movements has risen to 617 since the aggression began in Gaza on October 7, 2023.

The Executive Committee Decides to Convene the Palestinian National Council Meeting After Gaza Ceasefire

The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) decided, on the evening of Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to work on holding a meeting for the Palestinian National Council immediately after the ceasefire in Gaza.

This decision came during a meeting of the Executive Committee in which they reviewed the political and security situation, particularly the acts of sabotage, destruction, and murder being carried out by Israeli settler gangs against Palestinian civilians in various areas of the West Bank, with the support of the Israeli military and the extreme-right Israeli government. These actions include the seizure of lands and farms, forced displacement of citizens, and the burning of homes, which are then converted into military outposts for the Israeli occupation forces.

The Executive Committee praised the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their resistance against settler gangs and the Israeli military, affirming their commitment to their land and their refusal to be displaced from one area to another.

The Executive Committee called for the distribution of humanitarian aid to be conducted solely through UNRWA, emphasizing the unification of all Palestinian factions and forces to confront the silent annexation of Palestinian lands by Israeli authorities. They also urged the strengthening of national unity on the ground and the organization of protection committees in all areas, to be stronger and more effective in confronting the settlers' barbaric actions.

The committee discussed the ongoing situation in Gaza, where the siege and genocide carried out by the Israeli military are depriving the population of even the most basic means of survival, affecting even infants.

In this context, the Executive Committee called on the international community and its institutions to immediately cease fire and facilitate the delivery and organization of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The committee also reaffirmed its political and diplomatic efforts regionally and internationally to quickly convene the international conference that was scheduled to take place in New York in June 2025, under the auspices of Saudi Arabia, France, and the United Nations. This conference aims to implement international resolutions regarding the Palestinian cause, particularly the two-state solution and the recognition of a Palestinian state as a step towards ending the occupation.

Given the severe financial crisis facing Palestine, the Executive Committee emphasized the need for international action to put an end to the Israeli occupation's ongoing theft of Palestinian clearance funds under false pretenses. They also decided to intensify efforts with Arab partners to adhere to the commitments made in successive Arab summits to provide financial assistance to Palestine as part of the Arab safety net.

Finally, the committee discussed lawsuits filed in Israeli courts against the PLO and the Palestinian National Authority. They adopted a national and international legal strategy to protect Palestinian public funds and the rights of the Palestinian people and their legitimate representatives.

The Executive Committee also agreed to form a national legal team to confront the Israeli compensation claims.

Zamir: Syria is Fragmenting and Undergoing Changes

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Israeli Chief of Staff, General Eyal Zamir, conducted a field tour at positions controlled by the Israeli military within Syrian territory, accompanied by the Northern Command Chief, Major General Ori Gordian, and other field commanders.

Zamir conducted an operational assessment and met with reserve soldiers deployed on the frontlines, stating, "The reserve forces are an essential operational strength to protect the security of our citizens." He further emphasized, "I view the reserve system as a national asset."

Zamir underscored that Israel has been engaged in a "multi-front battle for a long time," adding, "Last week, we reached a new peak in this battle. We are dealing harsh blows to all elements of the axis established by Iran against us – and now we have acted powerfully against the head of this axis: the Iranian regime and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)."

The Israeli military leader continued, "We must maintain high readiness and vigilance at all times. The defense on the Golan Heights is conducted in a forward defense zone, and we initiate operations aimed at neutralizing threats."

Zamir reiterated, "The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will attack every tangible threat, whether it is existing or in the process of formation, anywhere it requires action," adding, "We continue to target terrorist organizations and Hezbollah."

Regarding Syria, Zamir commented, "Syria is fragmenting and undergoing change. We are holding crucial points, and we will continue to operate beyond the borders to defend ourselves to the best of our ability."

Gaza – Release of 14 Prisoners through Kessufim Gate

On Tuesday evening, July 1, 2025, Israeli authorities released 14 Palestinian prisoners from Gaza who had been detained for several months during the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

According to Palestinian medical sources, the Israeli military freed the 14 Gaza prisoners through the Kessufim Gate southeast of the central Gaza governorate. The prisoners were transported by bus and vehicles belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

The sources confirmed that the released prisoners are undergoing medical checks at the hospital, though the results have not been announced yet.

It is common for the ICRC to transfer released prisoners to hospitals for necessary medical examinations, and provide them with clothes and personal hygiene items. Previous examinations of released prisoners have shown signs of torture, in addition to the consequences of starvation and medical neglect.

From time to time, Israel releases Palestinian prisoners it has detained since the beginning of the ongoing war of extermination.

The ICRC issued a statement saying that its teams facilitated the transfer of the 14 released detainees to Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital. They were able to meet their families and reunite after months of detention.

The ICRC confirmed its continued efforts to resume visits by its delegates to Israeli detention facilities, to monitor the conditions of Palestinian detainees and provide their families with information about their situation.

Haaretz: Plan Under Discussion to End Gaza War

Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on Tuesday evening, July 1, 2025, that a plan is currently being discussed to end the war on the Gaza Strip. The proposed plan may include political compensation for Israel, aimed at softening the stance of the extreme right-wing ministers in the Israeli government.

According to Israeli, American, and Gulf sources, who requested anonymity, the plan is expected to include political compensation for Israel. These compensations could involve talks between Israel and Saudi Arabia regarding normalization, a similar agreement with Oman, and a potential historic declaration from Syria to end the state of hostilities with Israel.

The sources explained that linking these regional moves to a prisoner swap deal with Hamas in Gaza is intended to facilitate passing the agreement within the Israeli government, particularly for the right-wing ministers, who are expected to pressure Netanyahu not to approve a deal that includes ending the war.

According to Haaretz, the plan involves the release of 10 Israeli prisoners in the first phase, followed by the commencement of indirect negotiations on the general principles for ending the war, with these talks taking place during a ceasefire period. The aim is to shorten negotiation time and avoid the collapse of talks, which could lead to renewed escalation.

Under the proposed agreement, both Israel and Hamas would announce the formal end of the war by the end of the process. The remaining prisoners would be released afterward.

The plan also includes a series of concessions from Hamas, such as the exile of its senior leaders from Gaza, ending its rule over the Strip, and transferring civil governance to a coalition of Arab states tasked with overseeing the reconstruction of the region.

Arab nations have previously expressed their support for reinstating Palestinian Authority control over Gaza, although Netanyahu opposes any role for the PA in the Strip.

Moreover, Hamas leaders have consistently rejected offers to go into exile or abandon their military weapons, which they view as resistance weapons.

Haaretz claimed that Qatar informed Hamas' leadership, currently residing in the country, that agreeing to the plan would lead to the end of the war. The United States has reportedly pledged to ensure its implementation and prevent Israel from violating the ceasefire once the first group of prisoners is released. However, no official statement has been issued by Qatar on the matter.

Meanwhile, Israel demands guarantees that would allow it to resume military operations should the negotiations fail after the first phase of the deal.

According to the newspaper, senior Israeli officials recently stated that Tel Aviv might show flexibility on certain aspects of the deal as long as the principle of "the option to return to war if necessary" is maintained.

Israeli opposition figures and the families of prisoners argue that Netanyahu continues the war in response to the most extreme right-wing faction in his government, aiming to further his personal political interests, particularly staying in power.

Haaretz cited an Israeli source claiming that intensive contacts have been ongoing with the U.S. administration about the plan, in preparation for Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit to Washington next Week.

Gaza: Two Rockets Fired at Southern Israel

On Tuesday evening, July 1, 2025, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have intercepted two rockets launched from southern Gaza towards the Gaza envelope settlements.

According to the IDF, "Following the alerts that were sounded in the Gaza Envelope area a short while ago, the Air Force intercepted two rockets that were launched from southern Gaza and crossed the border, with no injuries reported."

Sirens were heard in five Israeli settlements near Gaza, warning of the rocket launch.

Yedioth Ahronoth, an Israeli newspaper, reported that the sirens were activated in the settlements of Miftahim, Amioz, Yesh, Nir Yitzhak, and Bri Gan, all of which are adjacent to Gaza.

In response, Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for the rocket fire. They stated that they had targeted the settlements of Nir Yitzhak and Miftahim with a salvo of Q20 rockets from a location in Khan Younis, south of Gaza.

These orders were issued in preparation for a military assault on these regions.

The Israeli military described these areas as "dangerous combat zones" and instructed Palestinians to evacuate immediately and head towards Deir al-Balah for safety.

10 Killed and Dozens Injured in Israeli Attack on Aid Seekers in Central Gaza

On the evening of Tuesday, July 1, 2025, 10 Palestinians were killed, and dozens more were injured, many critically, as Israeli army forces targeted civilians waiting for aid near the Netsarim junction, on Salah al-Din Street in southern Gaza Valley.

According to Palestinian medical sources, 10 civilians, including a child, were killed when Israeli forces opened fire directly on those waiting near a U.S.-Israeli aid center. Witnesses reported that the Israeli forces fired directly at the crowd, with some individuals being targeted by sniper fire.

The Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat Refugee Camp reported that their teams were able to retrieve 8 bodies, and 55 others were injured, including 17 in critical condition. The shooting took place near Salah al-Din Street, in the Gaza Valley area.

Palestinian sources confirmed that the death toll in Gaza had surpassed 110 since dawn, with casualties continuing to rise.
